CIDEU is an association of Over a 100 Ibero-American citie that fosters the economic and social development of its members through initiatives relative to urban strategic planning.

To such end, CIDEU fosters brainstorming of urban strategies and facilitates dissemination of relevant information by creating a network of cities to upgrade their strategic positioning.

Likewise, it induces cultural change in local management towards the integration of digital technologies applicable to urban strategic planning and towards the building of virtual communities.

This network celebrated its tenth anniversary in May 2004 in the city of Rio de Janeiro and renewed it strategic commitments for 2013.

In doing so, CIDEU started a new stage focused on:

  • Strengthening efficient exchanges.
  • Expanding public private cooperation for the promotion of economic and social development.
  • Developing a technological platform that will allow participative work.
  • Establish CIDEU as a referent for strategic initiatives in Ibero America.
  • Positioning the network before multilateral cooperation bodies.
